Whoo! Alright! Yeah… Uh-huh!

The Rapture

Pieces of the People We Love

Greetings, TumblBees. Jon Gamero bringing you the dance-punk pioneers The Rapture with the feel good hit that is reeeeallllly annoying to spell out (as a result, it’s often abbreviated to W.A.Y.U.H.).

Based out of New York, the group has been enduringly rocking and reinventing the bass-heavy dance genre. From their humble beginnings as a guitar/drum combo, they had a pretty unique sound as evidenced by their first single ever, The Chair That Squeaks. DISCLAIMER: Listen at your own risk, as knowledge of the aforementioned song is an automatic +200 points to your Hipster Credit Score.

After getting their tour on, they grabbed themselves a bassist and put out the title track from their EP (and personal favorite of mine) Out of the Races and Onto the Tracks.

Today’s post comes from their third effort, Pieces of the People We Love. W.A.Y.U.H. is a nice little melting pot of their efforts thus far. With catchy bass, great guitar line, a fun little repeat line just before the breakdown sandwiched by just the right amount of synth, and enough cowbell to appease the Dairy Farmers of America (yes, it’s a thing), it’s the perfect storm of Rapture sound. The animations only push it further up the awesome ladder, a few notches below winning the lottery, but a smidgen above finding a $20 bill in an old jacket pocket.

WARNING: #HumbleBrag Xing ahead!

Why The Rapture, you ask? Why today of all days? They’ll be cruising through the Heidelberg area this Sunday. Grab ye tickets while ye may!
