Cape Dory
Hi, everyone. My name is Jon Gamero, and I’m addicted to 60’s pop. It’s been about 20 minutes since I last used. I don’t see myself stopping, but my parole officer told me I had to come.
Luckily, there’s enough new stuff out there for addicts like me thanks to bands like Tennis. A combination of big name 60’s groups like The Zombies combined with the feminine charm of acts like Rosie & The Originals. The result?

A band whose album cover is full of retro-awesome… right down to the font.
Not bad for the Denver-based husband and wife crew of Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley. The purposely low-fi sound combined with the skating-rink smooth vocals over peppy synth lines and handclaps (I’m a sucker for handclaps) is like riding the S.S. Bottomless Piña Coladas out of the ho-hum desert.
Eyes peeled, everyone! Their new album comes out on Valentine’s Day, with the first single coming out two weeks from today on December 6th. It’s now available thanks to the magic of THE INTERNET.
Sound familiar? Patrick Carney of Black Keys fame is earning a producer credit on this puppy. The influence is as noticeable as it is welcome. A departure from their earlier tracks? A bit.
Still great…?
I’m jonesin’ already.
